As from 2005 Andrew McLaren Safaris offers an opportunity to hunt at what we consider to be very good rates as a package deal.

Special Herd Management Hunting Packeges Offers Valid from March to May 2009

1.  Mervilla 8 non-trophy animals and 6 Days Plains Game Hunt:

This deal starts by collecting client(s) at Bloemfontein Airport on day 0, i.e. the day before the actual hunting starts, for transportation to Andrew McLaren Safaris’ base of operation at the farm Mervilla. Clients to be accommodated in a private thatched lodge with bath, hot & cold running water and flush toilet. Hunting will be conducted on Andrew McLaren Safaris concessions in the immediate vicinity of Mervilla, all of which are within less than an hour drive to the actual hunting venue. Full board and lodging with two hearty meals and a light picnic style lunch, including moderate amounts of beer, table wine and sundowners as well as laundry service is provided.

 

Trophies offered are:

 two blesbuck females + two blesbok young non-trophy males + one impala non-trophy young ram + one impala female + one gemsbuck young non-trophy male +one kudu young non-trophy 1 1/2 turns male

 

It may very well happen that the hunter, at the request of the Professional Hunter, be asked to shoot a real old trophy male, but then that individual will have something undesired - like being cripple. In such a case the trophy will replace the young non-trophy animal in the package at no additional cost.

 

If the hunter fills his trophy quota before the 6 days’ hunting is over he/she may elect to either hunt for additional, or better quality, trophy species at the standard trophy cost, or take part in limited varminting and wing shooting which will be arranged at no additional cost.

 

At the end of the hunt, i.e. after 6 full hunting days the client will be returned to Bloemfontein Airport on the 7^th day after the day of his/her arrival. Taxidermy and shipping costs for trophies are NOT included. After the hunt all marked and field-prepared trophies will be delivered to Messrs. Savuti Taxidermy of Roodepoort with the clients taxidermy instructions for either Dip-and-Ship or completion of taxidermy before dispatch to a shipping company.

 

Total cost for 8 non-trophy animals and 6 days hunting and arrival departure day is R 22000 that is payable up-front at time of booking. In the most unlikely event that, despite your best hunting effort, you do not manage to bag the full quota the species not successfully hunted will be refunded as shown. Blesbok: Two each of non-trophy ram and ewe: Refund R 1000 each Gemsbuck: One non-trophy young bull: Refund R 3500 Impala: One each of non-trophy young ram and ewe: Refund R 1000 each Kudu: One non-trophy young bull (1 ½ turns ): Refund R 3000 The package can be upgraded to include trophy animals only once the non-trophy animals of that particular species have been shot.

 

If two or more hunters wish to share the experience, all hunting will be on a 2x1 basis, i.e. 2 clients for each Professional Hunter. Two hunters may also split the animals between them.

In every instance the hunter, with the help of the Professional Hunter, may select to shoot from the herd, other than the dominant breeding herd bull, the biggest trophy they can obtain at the concession on which they are hunting. Trophy quality to any specific record book qualification standard is not guaranteed, but the concessions are all managed and very good specimens are taken there regularly.

 

If the hunter fills his trophy quota before the 6 days’ hunting is over he/she may elect to either hunt for additional, or better quality, trophy species at the standard trophy cost, or take part in limited varminting and wing shooting which will be arranged at no additional cost.

 

At the end of the hunt, i.e. after 6 full hunting days the client will be returned to Bloemfontein Airport on the 7^th day after the day of his/her arrival. Taxidermy and shipping costs for trophies are NOT included. After the hunt all marked and field-prepared trophies will be delivered to Messrs. Although the price list value of this hunt is $ 4100, the offered Package Price is only $ 2500. To take up the package a booking confirmation deposit of $ 1000  is to be paid as soon as possible, but preferably at least 90 days before the onset of the hunt, by electronic bank transfer. The remaining $ 1500 of the full package cost of $ 2500, must be paid before the start of the hunt. In the very unlikely event of a client not managing to get a worthy example of all three species, the hunter will be refunded at the full trophy fee cost for the species not collected.

 

If two or more hunters wish to share the experience, all hunting will be on a 2x1 basis, i.e. 2 clients for each Professional Hunter.

2. Ribbokrant 3 Trophies 6 Days Plains Game Hunt:

 

This deal starts by collecting client(s) at Bloemfontein Airport on day 0, i.e. the day before the actual hunting starts, for transportation to Andrew McLaren Safaris’ Eastern Cape base of operation at the farm Ribbokrant near Aliwal North. Clients to be accommodated in a private room of the original farm homestead and will need to share a bathroom with, hot & cold running water and flush toilet, with the Professional Hunter(s) and cook. Hunting will be conducted on Ribbokrant and the nearby concession of Joubert  which is less than an ¼ hour drive from Ribbokrant. Full board and lodging with two hearty meals and a light picnic style lunch, including moderate amounts of beer, table wine and sundowners as well as laundry service is provided.

 

Trophies offered are:

 

blue wildebeest or red hartebeest or black wildebeest + blesbok + springbok

 

In every instance the hunter, with the help of the Professional Hunter, may select to shoot, other than the dominant breeding herd bull, the biggest trophy they can obtain from the herd at the concession on which they are hunting.
